About

What is Fishnets & Film Fishnets & Film

In 2021, Fishnets and Film began as a special showcase to screen a short film about drag queens during a drag show. It was directed by  Robby Kendall and produced by his team as a ‘red carpet’ event that featured the film and local performers.

It is now a small-but-mighty, and quickly growing, non-profit organization that brings communities together for queer joy and engagement. It’s a showcase of  stories on screen that truly represent our LGBTQ+ community and art on stage by local performers. It’s also a vehicle for local organizations and businesses to network as guests mingle with one another and learn about the support + resources available in our local community.

About Robby Kendall: He is a Psychologist, Drag Queen, Sagittarius, Writer, Dog Dad, and Filmmaker ~ not necessarily in this order. He’s a fearless, super gay, advocate for the LGBTQ+ community and resident of Emeryville. He’s a mover, maker, and a shaker.
